Since sun exposure is the primary cause, we understand that it's crucial to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to reduce skin damage.
The use of sunscreen is essential to protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays during exposure. However, many people experience the appearance of pigmentation spots even with regular application of sunscreen. Here we explain why and how to avoid these hyperpigmentation spots.
First of all, it's important to remember that to be effective, a sufficient quantity of sunscreen must be applied. In general, you need about a teaspoon for the face and more for the body. Many people don't apply enough, reducing the protection offered by the product. What's more, sunscreen needs to be reapplied regularly, especially after swimming, sweating or toweling off. A single application in the morning does not offer all-day protection.
Then there's the question of incomplete protection. Certain areas, such as the ears, neck and eye area, are often neglected during application. These unprotected areas can develop pigmentation spots. Using a sunscreen with too low a sun protection factor may also fail to offer sufficient protection against UV rays.
It's also crucial to understand the different types of UV rays. Not all sun creams protect against both types of UV rays. UV-A rays penetrate deep into the skin and are responsible for skin aging and the appearance of spots, while UV-B rays cause sunburn. It is therefore important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect against both types of radiation.
Other factors also contribute to the appearance of spots. Certain medications and hormonal changes, such as during pregnancy, can increase the skin's sensitivity to the sun, favoring the appearance of spots. With age, skin becomes more susceptible to sun damage, even with adequate sun protection.
Using complementary products can help. Incorporate serums and creams containing antioxidants like vitamin C and E into your skincare routine to help protect skin from free radical damage caused by the sun.
At Yodi we have a routine to suit:
First, we recommend that you gently cleanse your face with our Vitamin C and Hibiscus Flower powder cleanserThis sulfate-free facial cleanser removes impurities and performs micro-exfoliation, accelerating the cell regeneration process. By renewing the skin's upper layer, we reduce the formation of pigmentation spots caused by the accumulation of melanin in dead cells.
Next, we recommend using the Rétinol Like Végétal oil serum.
First and foremost, it provides the skin with the nourishment it needs, thanks to its composition rich in high-quality argan oil. It also contains coffee oil, a powerful antioxidant, and 2% concentrated Bakuchiol. Bakuchiol has the same anti-wrinkle and anti-dark spot properties as Retinol, but with a gentle, non-irritating action. What's more, it is non-photosensitizing, so can be applied morning and/or night. Finally Rétinol-Like Végétal is enriched with prebiotics that strengthen the cutaneous barrier, protecting your skin from external aggressors.
Take extra precautions by wearing protective clothing, wide-brimmed hats like our Bob "Happy Hour", and sunglasses to reduce direct sun exposure. Limit sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when UV rays are most intense.
By adopting these good practices and using the right products, you can better protect your skin against UV rays.
