ITW L'Indiscrète - Claire and Capucine - Founders of Petit Côté

November 14, 2022

Claire and Capucine are the founders of Petit Côté, a brand that innovates by being the first to offer vegetable-based pastries, a healthier, less sweet and less fatty alternative that's just as gourmet as traditional desserts. Personally, we've tried it and WE LOVE it (our favorite: the chocolate carrot moelleux)! So we decided to interview the two inspiring entrepreneurs behind this project...

Yodi Beauty: Your mantras?

Claire: "At the end it will be ok, if it's not ok, it's not the end".

Capucine: You learn to swim by jumping into the water

Yodi Beauty: Your favorite books?

Claire: I read my recipe books like novels. At the moment, my bedside book is "On va déguster la France" by François Regis Gaudry: a real culinary bible!

Capucine: Florence Arthaud, Cette nuit la mer est noire. I love sailing, and I love adventure books, and this one is more than gripping.

Yodi Beauty: What are your favourite films?

Claire: I'm not much of a film person, but I do devour series and documentaries. The one that's made the biggest impression on me lately: Demain by Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent

Capucine: classic Forest Gump!

Yodi Beauty: Your favorite songs?

Claire: "Eyes of the tiger" - Yes, I listen to it every time on the way to an important meeting, and once I've arrived, I'm ready to conquer the world!

Capucine: currently Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond

Yodi Beauty: Places where you feel good?

Claire: At the restaurant, surrounded by my friends!

Capucine: in the water!

Yodi Beauty: Your food routine for autumn?

Claire: Start the raclette tour: truffle, smoked, bear's garlic, pimento, veggie... don't leave any out!

Capucine: I make batch-cookings of squash quiches to last all week.

Yodi Beauty: Your favourite dishes?

Claire: Sushi

Capucine: .... (drum roll): quiches!

Yodi Beauty: Your favorite junk food?

Claire: A burger, simple and effective

Capucine: I'm not much of a junk food person, I'm the type of person who eats wraps at McDonald's (sorry).

Yodi Beauty: What's your favourite sport?

Claire : Joker!

Capucine: Rugby! I play in the Federal 1 and train twice a week, it's my passion.

Yodi Beauty: Your secret to well-being?

Claire: Get plenty of sleep, the best part of the day

Capucine: half an hour of yoga on Monday evenings, to get the week off to a good start (and recover from the aches and pains of rugby!).

Yodi Beauty: Your beauty routine for autumn?

Claire: Take advantage of the arrival of autumn vegetables: squash, mushrooms... and fill up on vitamins!

Capucine: at the moment, I've replaced my moisturizer with aloe vera gel (harvested myself from my plant).

Yodi Beauty: Your beauty secret?

Claire: Smile, so far the most effective!

Capucine: do as little as possible! I don't wear make-up and I try as much as possible to use natural ingredients, in bulk, to cleanse and moisturize my skin.

Yodi Beauty: How did you get the idea to start baking?

Claire: I'm a food fan and a great gourmet. I'm always on the lookout for culinary nuggets.

Capucine: Pastry-making was a complete coincidence! I've never been a pastry chef. But it was obvious to me that I should use healthy, local ingredients.

Yodi Beauty: What are the benefits of vegetable-based pastries?

Claire: Vegetables make our cakes extra moist despite the absence of butter. A way of eating healthier without compromising on pleasure.

Capucine: Vegetables can replace all animal fats, drastically reducing our carbon footprint!

Yodi Beauty: What foods/vegetables do you recommend for beautiful skin?

Claire: Carrots in summer for a sun-kissed complexion, and soups in winter to keep it hydrated!

Capucine: I think it's important to eat everything in season! Nature is very good at providing us with the nutrients we need in the right season. In winter, we need to eat cabbage, citrus fruit and kiwi fruit, which are rich in vitamins C and D.

Yodi Beauty: What about beautiful hair?

Claire: I haven't yet found the miracle recipe... I use coconut oil as a mask to nourish them.

Capucine: Then I'm not the right person at all. I don't take care of my hair, I don't even brush it, it's all straight!

Yodi Beauty: Your favorite Yodi product?

Claire: The 100% natural hair mask, perhaps the miracle recipe?

Capucine: Precious Oil! I love the idea of having a product that moisturizes both skin and hair, it's so simple and natural.

Yodi Beauty: What's your biggest dream?

Claire: A culinary world tour!

Capucine: solo sailing across the Atlantic!

All their pastries can be found on their website https://www.petitcote.fr/ and at their partners' stores (Monoprix, Pokawa, La Grande Epicerie...)!
