The benefits of Pilates

Pilates is a method of strengthening the core muscles, which lie between the ribs and the pelvis, and all around the spine (abdominals, pelvic floor and back muscles), known as the deep muscles. They constitute the body's energy center, enabling us to be stronger and more stable.

Pilates also improves awareness of the body, its strength and limits, so that it can be used more effectively.

This method was created by Joseph Pilates, who designed it around 8 key points:

Mastery of movement: Every movement from start to finish must be mastered in space and time.

Breathing : An essential component of the method, these exercises must be breathed. Breathe deeply with your chest, not with your abdomen. This technique muscles and tones the abdominal muscles.

Fluidity: The body is almost always in motion. Slow, deep-muscle movements. Coordination between the nervous system and the musculo-articular system ensures fluidity.

Precision: Exercises are precisely sequenced, eliminating unnecessary movements.

Concentration: Every movement and breath must be conscious and come from the center.

Centering: Exercises are performed with the stomach in, to work the deep abdominals; "Everything comes from the stomach", which is the center of gravity.

Stability: It's important to keep one part of the body (often the torso) immobile.

Relaxation: You need to relax and loosen your muscles and work on your range of motion.
