Aloe vera for hair and scalp: a super-active ingredient

Aloe Vera is a real ally for hair and scalp, and can be found in shampoos and masks in many forms: gel, native juice or concentrated powder.

L'Aloe Vera, un super actif pour les cheveux et le cuir chevelu

If you have dry, color-treated or highlighted hair lacking moisture, or curly, frizzy or frizzy hair that's thirsty, or an irritated or itchy scalp, try 99% Pure Organic Aloe Vera for your hair and scalp.

In organic or grocery stores, you can of course buy pre-cut Aloe leaves and prepare your own gel at home, taking the necessary precautions to ensure that this ingredient retains its effectiveness. However, you can find it at any price. It is of the highest quality when it is almost 100% pure and, of course, ORGANIC.

Attention : choose ORGANIC and look at what it says on the label. The purer it is, the fewer ingredients it contains.

To boost its moisturizing effect, the composition of your Aloe Vera should begin with Aloe vera Bardensis which is the Latin name for aloe vera. If Aqua appears in your product's composition before Aloe Bardensis Leaf, your product contains more water than Aloe vera. Not great for moisturizing your hair.

Have you found your Aloe vera hair ? Let's get to work:

How do you use Aloe Vera on your hair?

For a start, it's now possible to find an Aloe Vera-based shampoo for irritated scalps. It's also a great addition to any hair routine, and here are some of our favorites:

Use before shampooing to protect and moisturize hair.

In this case, it can be applied directly to dry hair as a mask. Its highly aqueous gel texture (composed of over 95% water) will melt quickly into your hair. Leave in, then use your shampoo as usual.

You can also mix it with a natural organic oil such as Jojoba oil or Argan oil to nourish, or Hemp oil to repair your hair fiber. Nothing could be simpler: use a small bowl to make your minute aloe vera and natural oil mixture and apply to dry hair.

Leave on (the longer the better, especially if you have very dry hair), then apply your usual shampoo and conditioner.

Don't hesitate to shampoo again to lather and remove excess.

As a rehydrating treatment for curly or frizzy hair or ends

(Especially on the second day after shampooing to moisturize your hair)

If your hair is curly or frizzy, it can quickly become dehydrated by pollution, friction, humidity and the pillow after a night's sleep. Aloe Vera is an ideal ally for curling your hair in the morning. Aloe Vera's slightly sticky/holding texture is very interesting for curl hold. In spray form, it's an even better ally for boosting curls or rehydrating dry hair ends.

As a moisturizing gel mask for the scalp

If your scalp is itchy, irritated or scratchy, it's probably dry, and massaging in Aloe Vera will moisturize and soothe it without making it greasy.

Aloe Vera: a unique, rich composition with multiple properties for hair.

Aloe vera is composed of an epidermal layer, a cellulose dermis in which the sap circulates, and the pulp which contains the gel. Why do our hair and scalp love Aloe Vera so much? Because its composition is a veritable vitamin cocktail: 20 minerals, 18 amino acids, 12 vitamins....

Aloe Vera gel is approximately 98% water, with the remaining 2% corresponding to :

  • Oligo- and polysaccharides, i.e. sugars that act as the plant's protective mechanism and have healing properties.
  • Amino acids needed for protein synthesis. It contains 18, including arginine and glutamic acid. These are the amino acids that make up hair keratin.
  • Minerals: calcium, chlorine, copper, chromium, iron, lithium, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc.
  • Many vitamins :
o Vitamin A or retinol
o Vitamin B1 or thiamine
o Vitamin B2 or riboflavin: important for skin and tissue health.
o Vitamin B3 or vitamin PP or Nicot amide: helps regulate metabolism.
o Vitamin B6 or pyridoxine: acts as a coenzyme in many reactions, particularly those involving amino acids.
o Vitamin B9 or folic acid: essential for the formation of red blood cells and the functioning of the nervous and immune systems.
o Vitamin C or ascorbic acid: stimulates the immune system and has antioxidant properties.
o Vitamin E or tocopherol: acts as an antioxidant.
  • Enzymes, which protect against bacteria and viruses and have an anti-inflammatory action, regenerate cells, aid digestion and stimulate the immune system.

With such a rich composition, it's hardly surprising that aloe vera is a favorite active ingredient for our hair, and you'll be able to find it in shampoo and mask formulas for the greater benefit of your hair.

For our Yodi Nutritive Argan powder shampoo, we use Aloe Vera powder, which has the ability to retain water within the hair fiber. Aloe Vera also has color protection properties. To repair damaged hair, this shampoo also contains a pea protein with proven efficacy for fiber repair. This vegetal powder shampoo is as good for the hair as it is for the scalp, as it has a scalp-friendly pH.

Aloe Vera powder manufacturing process

After being ground and filtered as for native Aloe Vera juice, the harvested pulp is dehydrated by freeze-drying to obtain a powder. This powder is 200 times more concentrated than a gel, and above all, it keeps perfectly well, preserving all its qualities without the need for preservatives.

Ideal for dry or color-treated hair, Aloe Vera combines with Organic Argan Oil, pea proteins and sugars to nourish and moisturize hair and soothe scalps. The great originality of Yodi's Nutritive Argan powder shampoo is that it contains no water or preservatives, thanks to its powder texture. It's a shampoo that lathers instantly under shower water. The patented formula required over 2 years of research and development. Presented in a cardboard-free aluminum bottle, its 40g capacity is equivalent to a 250ml shampoo, minus the water, preservatives and additives! A real detox for your hair!

Did you know?

The meaning of the name Aloe comes from the Arabic "Alloeh" meaning "bitter", while vera is a Latin word meaning "true". In ancient times, the bitterness of aloe vera was a symbol of the plant's effectiveness.

Aloe vera has amazing survival capabilities: when cut, the plant heals itself. It rapidly releases a substance which, within minutes, transforms into a new skin, rapidly healing the wound.

What's more, an aloe that has been dug up and left to stand in the heat will resist for months and keep its vital faculties intact, ready to green up again once replanted and watered!
