5 tips for deep, natural facial cleansing

The first essential step in taking care of your face: the skin cleansing. Your skin needs daily care to keep it fresh and radiant. And contrary to what you might think, just because you don't wear make-up doesn't mean you shouldn't cleanse your skin every day.

How do I find the right cleanser for my skin type?

Throughout the day, our skin is exposed to a wide range of external aggressors, including pollution, dust, heating and many other impurities. So it's essential to cleanse your face in the evening, to allow your skin to breathe better during the night.

To achieve this, it's essential touse the right product for your skin type and needs. Our 3 powder facial cleansers are enriched with natural active ingredients and designed with 100% natural ingredients. Vegan and sulfate-free, they are enriched with prebiotics and free from controversial ingredients. Theinnovation: thanks to their powder texture, they contain only active ingredients, no water and are therefore preservative-free. Ideal for skin detox and sensitive skin;

If your skin is rather oily, our Purifying Charcoal will be your best friend, thoroughly cleansing away any redness and imperfections.

For combination skin, our Vitamin C and Hibiscus flowers will give your skin a radiant glow.

If your skin is rather dry, our Trio of oils will bring softness and hydration to your skin. It's also perfect for removing make-up, thanks to the natural, organic oils it contains.

Depending on the season, your skin's needs may change, so don't hesitate to alternate. For example, if you use Purifying Charcoal every night, you can complement it with Vitamin C and Hibiscus Flowers in the morning for those days when it's cold and your skin needs a little boost.

5 ways to make powder talk

Once you've found the product that's right for you, it's time to apply it. Here are 5 different ways to use our powder cleansers:

The classic technique: pour a dose of powder directly into the hand and massage the face.

Nothing could be simpler: just shake the bottle well before use, then pour a dose of powder into your hand. Then add a little water and lather between your hands to obtain a milk. Apply this milk to your face and massage in circular movements to remove all impurities and thoroughly cleanse your pores.

All that's left is to rinse your face with lukewarm water. It's ultra-fast and highly effective. There's no reason to skip your evening cleansing routine!

The cocooning technique: use a reusable cotton pad or wipe

You can also use a washable cotton pad or wipe to cleanse your face. Pour a dose of powder into your hand. Then add a little water, lather between your hands and gently apply this cleansing milk to your face. Once your skin is clean, moisten the cotton pad and gently rinse your face using the cotton pad, working from the center of your face outwards.

It's important to wash the cotton well after use, to prevent the proliferation of bacteria.

This is the technique favored by Margaux, our osteopath. Check out her routine at

The expert technique: using a brush

For those who prefer to use a brush for application, it's possible! Simply pour a dose of powder into a bowl, add a little water and blend with your brush until a milk forms. Then use your brush to apply the milk evenly over your face. Rinse your face with lukewarm water using your hands or a damp cotton pad.

The brush is known to help distribute the product more evenly when applied to your skin.

This technique is used by Emmanuelle Capus, our facialist and body expert, who has also developed her own massage technique for the face and body: Mindful Massage.

Deep cleaning: use a konjac sponge

Another way to use our powder products is with a konjac sponge. This natural, biodegradable, plant-based sponge cleanses thoroughly and massages gently into the skin.

Start by pouring a dose of powder into your hand. Then add a little water and lather between your hands to obtain a cleansing milk. Apply to your face, then gently massage in circular movements with the sponge until your skin is clean and any remaining make-up has been removed. Rinse sponge and face gently.

Remember to disinfect your Konjac sponge about once a week by boiling it in a pan of water for a few minutes.

At Yodi, we adopt this routine when we want a slightly deeper but natural and gentle cleansing!

The special technique for very sensitive skin: use water other than tap water

Your skin can be very sensitive, particularly to limescale in tap water. But there's a solution to every problem. You can use purified water (a piece of vegetable charcoal in tap water will do the job of purifying the water perfectly) or spring water in a glass bottle. After that, it's up to you:

-you can pour a little powder into your hand, add a little spring water and mix to obtain a cleansing milk and apply gently to your face.

-You can add a little powder to a bowl and mix with spring water before applying to your face with a brush.

For rinsing, use a glove moistened with spring water or purified water. This will protect your skin from any potential damage caused by limescale.

Neutralize the effects of limescale

After a shower or facial cleansing, your skin may feel tight or red. This may be due to the limescale in your household water. The limescale in the water deposits on your epidermis, then crystallizes in the form of tiny needles that create an aggressive, very drying film on your skin.

In addition to aggressing the skin, hard water will also weaken your scalp. It can cause dandruff, itching and redness.

Unfortunately, no specific treatment can provide a lasting remedy to these problems as long as the water used is loaded with limescale. Water is considered hard when it is highly charged with calcium and magnesium ions, commonly known as limescale. Water hardness varies according to the geology of the soil in your region. Here's a map of France showing water hardness by region.

What are the solutions?

The first solution is to filter the tap water. To do this, you can install a water softener at the inlet: a water softener is the only mass-consumption system that removes limescale from tap water for all uses. The water is softened before it comes into contact with your skin or body.

You can also use a carafe filter : if your only concern is taste or limescale particles in your water, using a carafe filter solves this problem without having to resort to more expensive and extremely polluting bottled plastic water.

Finally, you can use activated carbon called "Binchotan", a proven and highly developed filtration method used in Japan for centuries to purify water. It's a very economical and ecological way of filtering tap water naturally.

Chemically speaking, activated carbon is a highly effective filter.

Water filtered with activated carbon is softened and has a neutral pH. It is also rich in trace elements and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium, which are removed by the carbon. It is free of any bad taste potentially present in tap water. Purer and richer, it also tastes much better.

Now you're ready for a super-gentle cleaning!

Objective 0 waste

At Yodi, we want to offer you products that contain as little plastic as possible. Our bottles are made from aluminum, a durable material that can be recycled ad infinitum.

In fact, aluminum can be reprocessed and reformed ad infinitum without losing its quality. Using recycled aluminum is much better for the environment, as it conserves raw materials and saves 95% energy.

It combines several qualities, such as lightness, mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, ductility (can be worked and deformed at low temperatures without breaking), recyclability and impermeability...

We attach great importance to avoiding plastic, even recycled plastic, as it cannot be recycled indefinitely and loses its quality.

Aluminum is ideal for cosmetics. Its lightness means you can take it with you wherever you go. Its elegant shape is perfect for decorating your bathroom shelf, and its preservative properties are ideal for keeping powders dry. And to prevent transfer between our powders and the aluminum, we've applied a natural eco-friendly varnish to the inside of the bottles!

The service capsule is made from PP (recyclable) and can be upcycled thanks to our partner CEP-Recycling. The label is made of wood cellulose (not plastic), so it's compostable and biodegradable! Once your product is finished, you can send us an e-mail (to hello@yodibeauty.com) so that we can send you a return slip to send back your empty bottles. All you have to do is post it! It's free for you.

Proof in figures

Every year, nearly 174 million bottles of shampoo and 113 million bottles of facial care are sold in France. The production, use and treatment of these products have a heavy environmental impact.

With Yodi, a bottle of shampoo 40g replaces a bottle of conventional shampoo (250mL) and a facial cleanser 30g replaces a conventional cleanser (150mL). We could therefore save up to 80% of water compared with conventional cosmetics, i.e. nearly 35 million liters of water per year thanks to our shampoos and 13 million liters of water thanks to our cleansers.

Ideal for sports, ideal for vacations, our powdered skincare products have it all!
