The benefits of vegetable oils

All you need to know about skin

The skin is one of the most complex organs in the human body. It is the body's heaviest and most extensive organ, representing around 2m2 in adults.

The skin is made up of 3 layers: the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis, and skin appendages (sweat glands, sebaceous glands and hair follicles).

The final layer, in contact with the outside world, is the epidermis. It forms the body's first line of defense, thanks to a hydrolipidic film composed of a mixture of sweat (secreted by the sweat glands) and sebum (secreted by the sebaceous glands).

This hydrolipidic film is composed of 5 types of lipids: triglycerides, fatty acids, waxes, squalene and cholesterol. It protects against dehydration, keeping the skin moist by preventing evaporation. This helps keep the epidermis well hydrated.

How to preserve the skin's barrier function?

One way to prevent water from evaporating is to use vegetable oils! Vegetable oils can be used to nourish the skin. They are well tolerated and provide the epidermis with all the elements it needs for its structure.

So which oil should you choose, depending on your skin type?

For dry skin, your ally is argan oil!

Rich in saturated fatty acids and essential fatty acids (omega 3, 6 and 9), this oil's nourishing and softening properties help strengthen the skin's hydrolipidic film. Argan oil also contains beta-carotenes (a precursor of vitamin A), which give it regenerating properties, and vitamin E with antioxidant properties.

For oily skin, nothing beats jojoba oil!

Rich in gadoleic acid, the composition of this oil is close to that of sebum, enabling it to regulate sebum production. Jojoba oil also has a nourishing, protective and softening action. It has the advantage of penetrating very easily and not leaving a greasy film, making it all the more pleasant to apply.

And for sensitive skin, we recommend sweet almond oil!

Rich in essential fatty acids (omega 9), sweet almond oil nourishes and softens the skin. This oil is high in vitamin A, which improves skin elasticity, and vitamin E, which accelerates cell repair.

As you can see, fatty acids play an essential role in reinforcing the hydrolipidic film and thus maintaining skin hydration. So don't hesitate to use vegetable oils to nourish your skin and keep it hydrated!
