The composition of your hair
Hair is essentially composed of keratin, a fibrous protein synthesized by specialized cells called keratinocytes. It also contains water, fatty acids, melanin, vitamins and minerals.
In terms of structure, hair is made up of a shaft and a root.
The hair shaft is the visible part of the hair, made up of three main layers running from the inside to the outside:

What is cornstarch?
Maïzena is the starch extracted from the corn cob. It comes in the form of a white powder and is considered a substitute for flour.
From a nutritional point of view, corn starch is a complex carbohydrate that breaks down slowly in the intestine, releasing glucose.
It provides energy for a long time.
What's more, cornflour is gluten-free, making it ideal for people with gluten intolerance. It's also ideal for slimming diets, as it reduces calorie intake when used in place of normal flour.
Apart from carbohydrates, it is rich in lipids and minerals, notably iron and potassium.
But what effect does cornflour have on your hair?
Cornstarch or cornstarch flour is a great ingredient for your hair!
Moisturizing properties: thanks to its hygroscopic properties, it nourishes hair, making it softer, shinier and, above all, silkier. It also acts on blood microcirculation and stimulates hair growth, so you can repair dull or dehydrated hair caused by the sun or external pollution. Thanks to these properties, cornstarch controls frizz and redefines curls while adding volume.
Sebum-regulating properties: cornstarch can absorb excess sebum from the scalp, regulating the hyperproduction of sebum characteristic of oily hair. A cornstarch-based shampoo will help limit sebum secretion and space out your shampoos.
Detangling properties: cornstarch coats the hair, making it easier to detangle and style. It is therefore highly effective for straightening long hair.
And on the skin?
Rich in antioxidants, cornflour helps fight free radicals, which are responsible for skin aging and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It's the perfect ingredient for preventing the first signs of aging.
In addition, it is rich in vitamins A and B, which soothe the skin and promote healing, while brightening the skin by reducing dark spots.

For one tablespoon of cornflour, add around 200 ml of coconut milk and heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until creamy. Once cooled, simply add a few ingredients to boost the moisturizing effects.
We recommend adding a teaspoon of honey and a few drops of aloe vera juice. Mix well to blend.
- Apply to dry or slightly damp hair, from roots to ends.
- Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse.
- Repeat this procedure every two weeks for soft, shiny, healthy hair.
