Discover the 10 best natural oils for body nutrition and their benefits!

Using vegetable body oils is a natural and effective way to care for your skin. Oils are rich in nutrients, vitamins and essential fatty acids, which moisturize, nourish and protect the skin. Compared to a body lotion or cream, an oil contains no water and no preservatives. What's more, non-hydrogenated, non-chemically-treated vegetable oils nourish while sealing in moisture. Thanks to advances in oil textures, today's oil-based skincare products are rapidly absorbed by the skin, allowing you to get dressed quickly without feeling sticky.

Provided, of course, that you choose organic, first cold-pressed, non-hydrogenated plant oils. In this article, we present the 10 best oils to use on body skin, so you can enjoy radiant, healthy skin.

10 fabulous natural oils for body nutrition.

Argan oil

Argan oil is extracted from the fruit of the argan tree, native to Morocco. It is a veritable beauty treasure with multiple benefits. Thanks to its ultra-nourishing properties, it revitalizes and softens dry skin, while maintaining optimal hydration. The antioxidants present in this oil, such as polyphenols and tocopherols, effectively combat the free radicals responsible for skin aging.

Free radicals are unstable molecules produced by factors such as sun exposure, pollution and stress. They can cause cell damage and contribute to skin aging. Argan oil's antioxidant content helps prevent the signs of ageing (wrinkles, fine lines).

It is particularly recommended for marked and damaged skin, as it promotes regeneration of the cutaneous barrier. Enriched with omega-9 and omega-6, argan oil protects the skin from external aggressions while preserving its elasticity.

Sweet almond oil

Sweet almond oil is a must-have when it comes to body care. Used for centuries in cosmetics for its benefits to the skin, this vegetable oil is packed with properties.

Its light texture quickly penetrates the skin, nourishing it deep down. Thanks to its content of essential fatty acids, such as omega-6 and omega-9, it helps strengthen the skin barrier and retain moisture, preventing dehydration and dryness. It helps restore the skin's natural moisture content and softens rough areas such as elbows, knees and heels. It leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable, nourished and revitalized.

It's an ally for sensitive, irritation-prone skin, with soothing, anti-inflammatory properties that help calm irritation, itching and redness.

Finally, sweet almond oil is also renowned for its benefits in reducing the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Thanks to its emollient and regenerating properties, it helps stimulate skin healing and reduce the appearance of unwanted marks.

This oil is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is similar to the natural sebum produced by the skin, making it an excellent moisturizer. It helps regulate skin hydration by forming a protective barrier that prevents excessive water loss, which can help prevent skin dryness and dehydration. Despite its oily texture, jojoba oil is non-comedogenic and easily absorbed by the skin. As a sebum regulator, it can help reduce sebum production and thus reduce spots on body skin.

Like the other oils mentioned above, it also has antioxidant and soothing properties.

Carrot oil

Carrot oil is renowned for its role in preparing skin for the sun. In fact, thanks to its beta-carotene (or provitamin A) content, it helps activate melanin, a natural pigment present in the human body and partly responsible for skin tone.

When the skin is exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays, melanocytes produce more melanin to protect the skin from UV damage: this is tanning.

By applying carrot oil to our skin, we help protect our cells and ensure a beautiful tan.

What's more, carrot oil is highly nourishing, forming a protective film on the skin and reinforcing the cutaneous barrier to maintain hydration.

With its orange hue, carrot oil leaves skin tanned and radiant.

Hazelnut oil

Hazelnut oil, light and absorbent, is a treasure for body skin. Thanks to its richness in fatty acids and vitamins, it deeply moisturizes and softens the skin, providing a feeling of comfort. Its regenerating properties help keep skin supple, helping to prevent dryness and roughness. What's more, the antioxidants present in hazelnut oil can help protect the skin against environmental aggressors and reduce the minor signs of skin aging. Incorporated into your routine on a regular basis, this natural oil can help maintain soft, healthy and radiant body skin.

Coffee oil

Precious for the body's skin, coffee oil contains a treasure trove of beneficial antioxidants. Its unique composition and concentration of antioxidants make it an exceptional ally for revitalizing and deeply nourishing the skin. These antioxidants act as protective guardians, helping to preserve the skin from environmental aggression and reduce the subtle effects of aging.

When you gently massage your skin with this oil after a bath or shower, you're giving your skin a dose of well-being and regeneration.

Safflower oil

Safflower oil is a must for nourishing body skin. Packed with essential nutrients such as omega-6 fatty acids and vitamins, it penetrates deeply to provide intense nourishment and comforting hydration. Recognized for its benefits, this oil works in perfect harmony with the skin, preserving its intrinsic flexibility while actively helping to maintain its unique, natural radiance.
Safflower oil's emollient properties make it a natural moisturizer of choice, helping to prevent skin dryness and restore the cutaneous barrier. It penetrates deep into the skin, nourishing the inner layers, leaving the skin feeling soft and comfortable. What's more, thanks to its rich antioxidant content, it can help protect the skin against damage caused by free radicals, helping to prevent premature ageing.
Safflower oil can also play a soothing role, helping to calm minor skin irritations and redness. Its skin-regenerating potential can help reduce the appearance of minor imperfections, leaving skin with a smoother, more even appearance.

Evening primrose oil

Packed with essential fatty acids such as omega-6 and omega-3, as well as vitamins and antioxidants, evening primrose oil penetrates deeply to provide intense nourishment. This precious oil preserves the skin's innate suppleness while contributing to its singular radiance.
Evening primrose oil's restorative properties make it an ideal choice for restoring the skin barrier, preventing moisture loss and preserving skin elasticity. Thanks to its antioxidants, this oil can also play a protective role towards the skin, preserving it from external aggression and minimizing the signs of premature aging.
It is also soothing, helping to calm redness and irritation.

Plum oil

It's a real treasure for your skin. The omega-9s present in plum oil are ideal for strengthening the skin barrier, preventing moisture loss and maintaining skin flexibility. Its deep penetrating power ensures deep hydration, leaving skin soft and silky to the touch. Thanks to its antioxidants, this oil can also act as a shield for the skin against the signs of aging. In addition to its gentle caress, plum oil soothes irritation and redness, revealing soothed, even-toned skin.

Sunflower oil

Sunflower oil offers numerous cosmetic benefits for body skin. It deeply moisturizes thanks to its essential fatty acids, and softens and soothes the skin thanks to its emollient and anti-inflammatory action. Its antioxidant vitamin E protects against premature ageing, while it can be used as a gentle make-up remover. Massaged into the skin, it nourishes and strengthens nails and cuticles. It can also help prevent stretch marks and relieve minor irritations.

Can I use any grade of oil?

First of all, there are two main types of oil: mineral and vegetable. Mineral oils are often derived from petroleum, and are devoid of natural nutrients. They are used in cosmetics as a base for products for their emollient properties and feel. They are film-forming and, like vegetable oils, help retain moisture inside the skin. However, their origin raises many questions about their potential effects on our health. What's more, they don't penetrate the skin and have no nourishing effect. They can be recognized by their name (e.g. Paraffinum liquidum, Polyisobutene, Isohexadecane...).

Vegetable oils, on the other hand, come from plants, seeds, nuts or fruit and are full of benefits for the skin. As we read earlier, they can be nourishing, softening, repairing, antioxidant, soothing... They are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, antioxidants and other nutrients beneficial to the skin. Their natural composition varies according to the plant source.

The method used to obtain vegetable oils is of great importance. With certain processes, the oils are heated and lose all their nutrients and thus their benefits.
We therefore recommend oils extracted by first cold pressing. This process involves pressing the seeds, nuts or fruits by crushing them without applying excessive heat. A paste is then obtained, which is placed in a press to exert pressure on the paste and extract the oil, which is then separated from the solid residues.
This technique preserves the oil's nutrients, as well as its natural scent, color and texture.

At Yodi, we've been working with vegetable oils since the brand was created, studying their benefits and trying to create the best combinations in products to make them as effective as possible.

Combined natural oils: YODI effectiveness and sensoriality for the body.

At Yodi, we're big fans of oils and their benefits, and we've been working with them since the creation of the brand, using them mixed with our powders or plain, as in these 2 body products:

Body Sunshine: a body oil as quickly absorbed as a body lotion.

We wanted to develop a nourishing product for the body, so we thought about the best possible galenic formulation.
We thought a body lotion would be interesting, but body lotions are about 80% water, and therefore contain preservatives.
As with all our products, water and preservatives were out of the question.
We therefore chose to formulate an oil, but we wanted it to have the same absorption speed as a body lotion.
So we worked on blends of more or less dry oils, with different touches and penetration speeds, until we came up with Body Sunshine, an oil that penetrates the skin as quickly as a body lotion, and with which we can get dressed quickly after application.
We've formulated Body Sunshine as a nourishing, sublimating body oil, with a synergy of natural active ingredients with antioxidant benefits and nourishing properties to nourish and beautify skin all year round.
It's the ideal after-sun care to keep in your routine for radiant skin all year round. Subtly golden, its sumptuous sensory texture envelops the skin in its summery fragrance, intensely nourishing it, sublimating the skin's texture and, on sunny days, enhancing the tan with each application, without any greasy finish thanks to its absorption as fast as a body lotion. An innovative beauty elixir that infuses the best of science and nature for radiant, strengthened skin.
Composed of vegetable oils of carrot, argan, safflower and evening primrose, obtained by first cold-pressing, as well as prebiotics.
As you may have read, argan oil and carrot oil have important virtues for the body's skin. Evening primrose oil and safflower oil are highly nourishing, thanks to their essential fatty acid content. They make skin suppler and softer.
Coffee oil is a real nugget for the skin. The antioxidants found mainly in coffee, polyphenols, are very powerful and have the advantage of being very well assimilated by the body. They protect us from skin ageing (wrinkles, dryness, loss of firmness, appearance of spots, irritation).

What's the use of prebiotics?

Naturally, we have many bacteria on the surface of our skin. These "good bacteria" effectively protect us from external aggression. But due to many factors in our daily lives, this natural barrier is altered. Prebiotics are molecules that nourish these bacteria, making them stronger and more numerous.
